Denn 1 – 6 Cuchulainns 1 – 13
Cuchulainns took the short drive to Crosskeys Sunday last for the re-fixed clash between themselves and Denn. The game was the first competitive match on the locals fantastic new pitch. With the surface like a carpet Dean Hyland was the first to register a score after nice interplay from the Denn forwards. The first 5/10 mins were very competitive with both teams popping over fine points, Evan Doughty with a particularly impressive score. However aided by a strong breeze the more experienced visitors were in unforgiving mood and raced into a 1 – 8 to 3 pts interval lead which would have been significantly more had it not been for a superb performance from Mark Fegan in the home goal who pulled off a series of excellent saves and came up to convert a 45. Conor Smith was a very effective target man for the East Cavan XV, combining effortlessly with Evan Doughty and Brian Magee to devastating effect with the experienced Seamus Clarke contributing the goal. Mossie Corr worked tirelessly for the maroons putting his body on the line on many occasions to drive his younger teammates forward. With the elements on their back the locals made a better impression in the second period and registered a goal through Cian Mc Cann however whilst the deficit was reduced to 7 points by the end of play the result was never in doubt.
