Seniors power past Denn

Cuchulainns 0 -16
Denn 0 – 04

The score line isn’t a full portrayal of this game in which Denn fought hard and indeed with only 15 minutes to go were 4 points in arrears. Cuchulainns however showed no mercy towards the away team en route to victory and powered on in impressive fashion in the last 15 minutes.

The outcome of this game looked to be heading one way in the first half as Cuchulainns took a 4 point lead 10 minutes in through Conor Smith, Rory O’ Connell, Donnacha Dunne & Shane Smith with O’ Connell with a fine point from distance. The Cuchulainns defence had dispossessed the Denn forwards a number of times throughout this period with Kevin O’ Connell and John Flanagan in fine form. Denn did get off the mark after 15 mins through there county man Mossy Corr after a fine burst forward from midfield.

The home team claimed 2 more points through Shane smith and a Seamus Clarke free before Denn started to get a foothold around the middle. The last 10 mins of the first half belonged to Denn however they could only muster up 1 score throughout this time as the Cuchulainn defenders stood their ground.
Half time; Cuchulainns 0 – 06 Denn 0 – 02.

The away team started the 2nd half the better and only for some wayward shooting with a number of frees and shots from play the game could have been much closer. Cuchulainns kept chipping away at the scoreboard and points from Evan Doughty and Brian McGee kept Denn at a distance. Denn did claim a couple of points to bring the score line back to Cuchulainns 0 – 08 Denn 0 – 04 with 15 mins to go.

That was as good as it got for the away team as Cuchulainns completely controlled the game from then on and claimed 8 unanswered points from all over the field. Adam O’ Reilly claimed his first senior points with the club with 2 points from play after good work from Midfield and the half forwards, David Carolan and Adrian Taite added 2 a piece also along with points from Evan Doughty and Conor Smith

The visitors were frustrated figures coming to the end of the game which by and large, the Cuchulainns defense dealt comfortably with anything Denn could throw at them with Killian Lynch playing particularly good at wing back with a number of dispossession’s and blocks.
